A man was shot while walking on Bronx streets on Sunday afternoon. He was walking with his 7-year-old daughter. The father of four by the name Anthony Robison was gunned down on July 5. He was spending time with his daughter before leaving for South Carolina. The New York Police Department (NYPD) circulated the surveillance footage on Monday. He was rushed to the BronxCare Health System, where he succumbed to his injuries. No arrest has been made up to now and investigations remain ongoing at the New York Police Department.

Who is Anthony Robison?

Anthony Robison, a 28-year-old man who lived in Bronx with his 7-year- old daughter, Khloe. His girlfriend, Stephanie Quinonez, 29, lived with the other three children in Florida. Anthony Robison was to leave Bronx for South Carolina, where he would start a peaceful life with his parents and family. He planned to leave the fast pace violent streets behind and start anew. He was to leave earlier, but he opted to stay and spend time with Khloe before leaving.

However, all these plans were shattered when the unexpected happened. Anthony Robison was crossing the road hand-in-hand with his daughter when a black car pulled up next to them. The footage shows Robison pausing and speaking to his daughter before a person stuck out a gun through the window and shot him. Robinson is shot multiple times on the chest. His daughter runs away as Robison crumples to the ground. Anthony Robison is then taken to the BronxCare Health System, where he eventually died. So far, no arrest has been made by the NYPD; however, investigations are ongoing.

Family Despair.

Stephanie Quinonez, the girlfriend to Robison, who currently has a 3-weeks -old daughter, is despaired and confused. She tries to explain to their other daughter, who is almost the same age as Khloe, but she does not understand.

“She does not figure out why her father has not called. I try to explain to her that he is dead, but she keeps asking how she will talk to him,” says Quinonez.

Now, Anthony is dead, and his daughter’s, Khloe last memory of the man she idolized as a hero is of him writhing on his back, mortally wounded in a crosswalk near a trash can and sewer grate. Quinonez says she not only lost a boyfriend but a close friend.

Increased Bloodshed.

New York has seen a sudden increase in the rate of shooting to 44% this year. Shootings increased from 355 to 511 between 2019 to date according to the NYPD. There has been a total of 176 deaths this year, which is 23% higher than the previous year. The NYPD plans to dispatch a hundred officers in cars and foot on the streets to deal with gun violence.

This Sunday, 48 people were shot, nine fatally, in 30 different incidents around the city. On Friday and Saturday, 15 residents were shot, one fatally, in 14 incidents. At the same time, one person was stabbed to death on Friday.
Robinson’s shooting was caught on a surveillance camera, and in the video, the terrified little daughter, her hair in pigtails lets go of her father’s hand, and sprints down the street to safety. She was not injured. But Quinonez said she had been wounded forever. Any person who has information regarding the gun down is encouraged to call crime supporters to help with the ongoing investigations.
