The coronavirus has changed a lot of things in the world. Things that people thought were very normal. For example, an event such as a graduation from the university was normal for the past years. People would attend the ceremony in large numbers. Similarly, people would flock in an award-giving event. However, as of today, most of these events happen virtually following the social distancing rule to curb the spread of the virus.
The coronavirus has not just disrupted events and ceremonies but has also claimed a lot of lives. Countries around the globe are in a battle as they strive to save lives from this virus. Last evening, the coronavirus could not stop the BAFTA TV Awards 2020 from happening. We learn a few things from the ceremony.
1. Sian Clifford is Not a House Breaker
Sian Clifford and Phoebe Waller had to intrude in their ally’s home to have a better signal to call in. The 2 were in Phoebe’s home before the issue arose. However, they did not break in violently because they asked the permission of the house owner.
2. Some Winners Got Creative
Some winners of the Awards ceremony made the event look like it was alive. At the BAFTA Awards, winners get trophies there at the ceremony and they would feel it physically on their hands. 2020 is a different year because the winners will get their awards in the post. Romesh Ranganathan is one of the winners who created his live event. He made a trophy out of a foil, tape, and an X-mas bauble and podium which was just but a small dustbin. His Misadventures documentary was the one that made him a winner as it won a prize for him.
3. Concern Over Naomi Ackie’s Background
It seems that the star had a simple plain white wall as her night’s background. However, she explained why she had a very boring background.
She said:
“Do you want to see? This is my room right now because I’m packing and everything is in a total mess. My bed is in the wrong place. I’ve got loads of furniture that’s unbuilt just behind me and I had to buy an expensive sofa. So, I would have made it more interesting if I could.”
4. One Cannot Serve Another Master While Watching Giri
Sharpe managed to win an award as the best actor for his presentation in Haji.
Will said:
“The success of Parasite has been very helpful. The feeling I get is the world is becoming increasingly international, and people share entertainment around the world more readily and rapidly.”
The BAFTA TV Awards 2020 was a successful virtual ceremony. Despite the success, viewers also learned different things. Apart from the lessons above, there were also many other things that people could have learned. Some of these are like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy comedy program taking the spotlight.
Moreover, Shirley Ballas gave people ideas concerning the 2020s Strictly and that Chernobyl could have had another lead.
