Think disasters are isolated? Think again, warns the UN. A new United Nations report argues about the severe pandemic affecting the globe. Frequent weather changes and the human factors among people themselves. They are the major setbacks and solutions have to be found quickly.

Interconnected Disaster Risks reported almost 10 disasters that affected the world in 2020 and 2021. Some of the crazy ones are the Beirut explosion, the Coldwave in Texas, and Amazon fires. It’s very difficult to solve such matters because there is no proof evidence of their origin. The panel has to sit back and identify the root problems of those challenges.

A senior scientist at United Nations University, Mr.Jack O’Connor said it’s dangerous to manage disasters in isolated events. An environmentalist spoke to Aljazeera on Friday news. He continued that the researchers must change the way they approach these happenings. The investigation must be tight, with deep thoughts involved. There should be a plan to know why those happenings took place.

In South America, 2195 people got hospitalized due to the Amazon human-made fire. The fire affected a population of almost $4.5 million.  The Amazon fire took almost 6 months before it was completely put off. The investigation is still own to know the cause of the raging inferno.

In Beirut Lebanon, last year August, 200 people died. Goods worth $44.6bn got damaged as another 6000 people suffered major and minor injuries. There was a detonation of 2750 Ammonium nitrate. We can see a direct negative impact of this causes on the economy of the world.

In addition, coronavirus came up which now spoilt everything. The health industry got a blow as hospitals filled up. Less supply of oxygen meant many deaths. Almost all the countries in the world got hit by the pandemic wave. Even doctors died during the process of treating infected patients.

The worst scenario is when covid-19 attacked the border of Bangladesh and India. Almost half the population lives in poverty. Many of them died due to inadequate hospitals in the region. There was no room for Cyclone Amphan preparation.

The United Nations University concluded that disasters at a time are interconnected to each other. Look at the example of the Texas cold wave and the Arctic heatwave. The two scenarios behave similarly. The Arctic was one of the regions with high temperatures as per the statistics. The development could automatically lead to very heat waves and cold spells in North America and Europe. Almost 4 million experienced blackouts as the US freeze with low temperatures.

The United Nations announced the need to reduce greenhouse emissions. Most of the 10 events narrated were found to be caused mainly by greenhouse gasses. It leads to slow climate change affecting the ecosystem. Let’s take an example of extinct paddlefish are as a result of toxic freshwater in China.

Mr. O’Connor said the interconnection is something the researchers must focus on because it’s the birth of everything. The union should address the matter before they arrive at the doorstep of everyone.
