Social Media Influencer I: Changing the narrative.

Is there a possibility you could earn a six-figure salary by sharing fashion tips and your life’s personal moment on social media? Well, in this 21st century, the impossible is possible. More women than men fall under the unemployment gap all over the world. At the same time, women contribute a more significant percentage in the informal job sector compared to men. Women, therefore, have taken an active role in creating job opportunities for themselves.

One of the new career that is gaining popularity is social media influencer. By definition, these are influential people in social media networks who have established credibility in a specific brand by providing their expertise and knowledge. These ranges from finances, fashion, business to all the interesting topics that could pop up in your head.

Tales of a Social Media Influencer.

Freddie Harrel is a unique woman from Cameroon, a French blogger, Confidence Coach, and businesswoman. She left her career in banking to start her personal fashion blog. Years back, she tried staying free from being labeled as an influencer because it made her feel uncomfortable. Freddie felt she got influenced by almost most people she meets, so did it mean that the rest of the world is not part of the influence?

Her blog started as a fashion blog, and it was a way of helping her reconcile with herself. Growing up, she felt so insecure about whether she was doing the right thing or in the right place, to begin with. She felt she had many characters in her head, some of which were negative. She, therefore, saw a blog as an opportunity for her to go meet these characters, bring them out for the world to be inspired. Apart from undergoing therapy, she thought the blog would help her as well. The blog was her form of communication before she found her voice through her style and fashion. Therefore the blog was a recovery journey to have a deeper connection with herself.

Impacting Her Followers.

Months later, her followers were inspired by her confidence and wished they would be her. At that moment, she thought of starting a confidence coaching known as ‘She Unleashed,’ which she did. She studied confidence coaching but didn’t see herself as a confidence coach. However, she wanted to encourage women to go that discovery journey to know the different people in them and how much they can do with these people.

Through this journey, she came out as a confidence consultant, blogger, professional Instagrammer, and entrepreneur. She built a hair extension business at the back of her Instagram, which she sees as a long term business she proudly owns. In her blog, she shares her personal struggles and hopes to inspire women to embrace their natural selves. Is she your typical influencer? I don’t think so.

Quality Content Pays.

Freddie gets money from the collaboration she does. Collaborations are through supporting brands that especially deal with confidence, i.e., #BeBold. Also, through collaborations that create awareness, she is then paid per every post or story she makes on her page. Freddie does pure digital campaigns besides just like those on TV. The brand takes shoots of her and use them to create content or posts.

Throughout the journey, she has been able to make a six-figure income that enables her to support her family. Therefore, if you are looking for an extra source of income, Hey! What are you waiting for? Hold on, are you passionate about it too?
