Coronavirus pandemic affects the luxurious lifestyles of social media influencers. COVID-19 is slowly crippling the global economy. Similarly, it is hindering the future of social media influencers with a habit of showcasing their luxurious lifestyles.
They are immensely tripping. The governments across the globe have imposed draconian measures hence no more luxurious trips and shopping for celebrities. Since regardless of status, the government expects everyone to abide by the measures. Failure to which one faces execution.
“The premise that influencer marketing is largely based on aspiration is now fundamentally flawed. No one can aspire to a perfect life anymore. There are no more yoga or spin classes after the school run. No more matcha lattes. Botox appointments are on how, and whole families are living in close, often messy, quarters. We are binge-eating chips, not quinoa,” stated Sarah Baumann, managing director of a marketing agency.
How do the celebrities afford luxurious lifestyles?
According to a report that cybersecurity company Cheq released before the pandemic, social media influencers happen to earn handsome amounts. For instance, a mini influencer with about 10000 enthusiasts earns about $250 per post. While a macro influencer with up to one million followers earns $250000 per post.
Why so? The easiest way to market brands is through influencers. Because marketing is based on aspiration, companies need influencers to endorse their products. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, all people focus on is their safety. As such some influencers have lost the aspirational power.
