France Reports Decline in COVID-19 Cases

[post_slider]

Since the onset of the pandemic, many countries have confirmed a severe surge. France happens to be among the countries which confirmed escalating numbers of covid-19 cases. On Sunday, France officials confirmed that the covid infections had declined successively for four days. The Ministry of Health in France reported that recently they had confirmed 19175 new cases within 24 hours. This is an improvement compared to the previous day which they had established 20586 cases.

Doctors Worried Over Surging Covid-19 Cases

Nonetheless, despite the four-day decline, hospitals in France are still parked. The doctors are concerned as the resources may be scarce to accommodate all the patients. Therefore the doctors have called on the France government to reinstate lockdown. More so as the contagious coronavirus variants could surge the cases.

Considering France has locked its country twice, the government is worried another closure could impact their economy. This comes at a time when the global economy has declined. More so, the low-income countries have recorded significant plunges.

Nevertheless, France’s government aims to contain the virus by imposing an evening curfew and stringent travel rules. They plan on banning non-essential travel to and from destinations outside European Union. Amid all the plans, doctors are concerned about the covid-19 variant.

Arnaud Fontanet, an epidemiologist and a government advisory body member, states that new cases might arise from the March variant. France’s total death toll is currently at 78965, which is a surge compared to the 78794.

France Vaccine Plans

Coronavirus vaccination has not been an easy task for France. France has been lagging in the administration of the vaccines. The French Prime Minister stated that their vaccination aimed mainly at the vulnerable members of their community. I.e., the elderly and the health workers who are the front lines in battling the virus.

However, during the first week of the vaccination process, only 500 people had shown up. This sparked a mixed reaction from people who criticized the government. Within the same week, Germany had inoculated about 200000 of its population. Since the disappointing turnout, France decided to call on its citizens to show up for the vaccination.

Medical personnel in the country also called on the government to speed up the processes of immunization. They were dealing with a technocratic system that is not reactive enough as it wants to follow regulatory procedures without any risks.

Polls reveal that less than 40% of France people are likely not to show up for the vaccination program. France has a long history of distrusting vaccines, and that has dramatically impacted the coronavirusus vaccination plans. Most probably, young populations will not show up for the vaccination.

Like most states that have confirmed the virus cases, France is hoping to flatten its curve. With the stringent measures and discipline in place, France might record a plunge in the covid cases. Currently, France has confirmed up to about 3.34 million cases. Other than France, countries like the United States have also confirmed millions of cases. Generally, no country is covid free.
