France Museum Displays Makay Massif to Honor Its Breathtaking Beauty

[post_slider]

Makay massif of southern Madagascar is one of the most impressive works of nature. It covers an area of 150 by 50km. This wonderland existed after the erosion of large crystallines of Massif rocks millions of years ago. What remains of the land are yellow sandstones, plateaus covered in drought-resistant forests and bushes, beautiful canyons, different flora, and fauna. Among all the ecosystems in Madagascar, Makay stands out for its unique features. Since many were unaware of its existence, it is unexploited hence provides room for future discoveries.

Makay Massif and World Animals

Isolated and preserved from human encroachment, Makay has become a habitat for all species in the ecological niche. Many have named it an iconic discovery because of the spectacular sceneries within its environment. However, many first came to know of its existence in 2010.

Makay is among the topmost havens for biodiversity conservation. Indigenous plants, animals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles live there. Some of these species only exist in the Makay.

What are The Major Discoveries in The Makay

Evrard Wendenbaum was the first person to explore Makay in 2020, in January. The Natural revolution was the leading team behind this study. This group’s major objective was to learn about natural resources and boost their knowledge of the species in biodiversity. They also aimed to come up with local programs for educational purposes.

This first international scientific exploration brought a dozen researchers from several institutes and universities together. The Missouri Botanical Garden, Natural History Museum of Paris and Toulouse, and Malagasy researchers are just but a few. With the help of climbers and cavers, scientists have been able to reach the most remote and highly inaccessible areas, to collect samples of different plant and animal species.

The expedition resulted in outstanding results that impressed many. Right from the discovery of rock paintings in the caves to 300 different plant species. All that is left is tireless laboratory research to clarify and thoroughly analyze the various samples collected during the exploration. Although many anticipate the final results, they will only be ready to come next year.

Makay in Danger

Makay is no longer a hidden treasure as many have come to know of its existence. The rate at which human activities are increasing in the region likely to threaten its inhabitants. Invasion of proliferation species and breeding of Zebu cattle is endangering the species within the region.

Makay Exhibition in France Museum

During an exposition in France,Hélène Lafont-Couturier, the director of the Musée des Confluences talked about the Malagasy exposition. The Musée des Confluences was hosting this exposition to honor the Makay region of southwest Madagascar. Since today Makay is a region still hard for many to explore, the museum was offering many a view of what the wonderland resembles.

Through this exhibition, the France museum offers many an opportunity to learn about biodiversity. The exhibition enlightens people on both history of the people and their relationship with the environment.
