DRC opposition leader Fayulu demands probe after rally brutally dispersed
Opposition leader

Earlier this week, security officers dispersed a rally that the opposition leader had called. It was about election reforms. Mr. Martin Fyunyula, the opposition leader, was very annoyed about the matter. He demanded an investigation to take place to identify who sent the coups.

It was on Wednesday when police fired guns and teargas into the air in the capital city of DRC. Funyula supporters had to run away to avoid injuries. Some citizens got injured in Kinshasa over the same matter. The referral hospital received within a few affected people. There is no exact number of citizens who got serious injuries.

Mr. Funyula had just arrived at the scene few minutes. He was yet to give out his speech when security officers filled the area. There was tension as people noticed unusual things in their daily gatherings. Some civilians also had guns in the same scenario.

In a recent report, Funyula said 30 of his officials got arrested at the same scene. Almost 20 sustained minor injuries and so

they are still in hospitals.

Mr. Funyula, the opposition leader, has visited some of the supports who got injuries but has announced that all are still alive and in good condition. Currently, all the people arrested have been released. However, opposition leaders are not sure if the reports are true. This is because we have 3 missing people on his daily crew, of which they are still searching for them. But he said there is a high possibility that they are still in custody.

Opposition leaders admitted how he was molested on Wednesday. The security officers and government officials called him funny names until he looked like an inferior person. Brutality is real in DRC Congo. Some officers tried to touch him as if he was a criminal.

Many observers from external and internal sources said the 2018 election was unfair. Funyula lost the seat to his opponent Felix Tshisekedi.  Although it is a fresh new term for Tsishekedi, the opposition leaders are not happy with how elections were conducted. He believes there was some truth that the board of the election did not disclose.

Both parties will seek the same seats in the 2023 elections. Mr. Funyula said he was ready for anything. He even accused the president of undermining the election board, which had to be chaired in 2023. The president should stay away from the electoral board.

The national assembly house has more members from Tsishekedi’s ruling party. This makes it easier for him to pass some laws.  In June, parliament held a meeting where they implemented laws to strengthen the electoral board. However, the opposition looked at the matter as if something was being tricked. Is there a game being played secretly? These are some of the answers that Funyuala is seeking.

Tsishekedi has always proved himself to be the right president by completing some projects left by the former Mr.Kabila. Even recently, there was a plan to re-look into the contract signed with the Chinese.  Despite all, Funyula has termed him as an illegitimate president who cares less about the people.

Tsishekedi leadership was a shock to most people.
