Shepherd Bushiri, a Malawian millionaire, was released without conditions on Thursday by a court in Lilongwe. He is currently a fugitive of South Africa. A warrant of arrest was issued in Pretoria, where his church was based, under charges of fraud, theft, and money-laundering involving 5.5 million euros.

Shepherd Bushiri Comments
This was what Bushiri had to say while addressing a crowd outside the court;
“I have come here looking for the constitutional help that protects citizens. My life was in danger in South Africa. I have opened cases against people in South Africa, the police officers who were arresting me. A lot of death threats, I have survived a lot of death attempts and also extortion. It is so disappointing that the government of South Africa is not commenting anything about these people I opened cases against.”
Along with his wife, Mary, the millionaire preacher was released without conditions after turning themselves into the Malawian police authorities. Is it a trick they used to cover up for the deeds done in South Africa? Anyway, a chick can only find warmth when it’s raining under his or her mother’s wings.
Wapona Kita, the couple’s attorney, made it clear that the Chief magistrate Viva Nyimba ruled their arrest illegal, basing the arguments on the protocols not observed during the issuance of a warrant of arrest.
“The matter did not go through the minister of homeland security, as is supposed to be the case.” Said Chief Magistrate Viva Nyimba.
No Place to Hide for the “Prophet”
How did the couple even escape to Malawi in breach of strict bail conditions imposed by South Africa?
What was South Africa’s next move after the couples escaped to Malawi? Their 300 850 euros luxury home based in a gated estate near Pretoria was forfeiture after they failed to appear before a South African court on Thursday. The couples lived in the home in recent years.
To add to the strict bail terms, the property title deed has been handed to the police.
Cyril Ramaphosa, South Africa’s president, has expressed concern over the entire matter. He has vowed to “Take action.”
Authorities in South Africa have shown interest in handing over Bushiri and his spouse from Malawi.
Questions are still being asked on how self-proclaimed Prophet Shepherd #Bushiri and his wife Mary skipped the country to Malawi. Some suspect he may have escaped via the #Beitbridge border post. @LindokuhlXulu1 demonstrated how easy it is to go in and out of Zimbabwe. #DStv403 pic.twitter.com/udfiFOuItX

Behind the Scene
Bushiri, the 37-year-old mogul, is believed to have acquired his wealth by way of donation from a church in Pretoria.
The self-proclaimed ‘prophet’ is known for huge investments, luxury lifestyle, and respected among his followers for performing ‘miracles.’
We can now see the miracles he performed in secret. Maybe digging deeper will mean having a conversation with one of his followers to determine what took place that attracted all these commotions.
