It is not uncommon for Islamic Militants to carry out beheadings. During their attacks, groups of men show up hooded with Islamic handkerchiefs and carrying weapons. The Islamist militants invade villages and destroy property and also kill and behead innocent villagers.
Islamist Militants in Mozambique
Most of the time, when these militants attack, they attack seeking revenge or in retaliation or because of religion. But recently, in Mozambique, Islamic militants attacked a village there seeking food. In the villages of the northern districts of Mocimboa da Prais and Macomia of Cabo Delgado in Mozambique, the militants caused a massacre. The attackers arrived and started searching for food when they attacked. Numerous people ended up fleeing the village and their homes, seeking safety in nearby woods. During the daytime, when the residents returned, they found eight dead people who had their heads cut off.
Meanwhile, in Mocimboa da Praia the Islamist militant entered the district and beheaded one man at a flour mill. Afterward, they stole food and livestock and left. On the next day, after they had killed the man, they returned to steal more food. Islamic militant attacks nowadays even go further into being about economic aspects as well. Some of these attackers start fights to take control of certain regions. Most of the regions they fight for end up mostly being rich in oil, and the Islamist militants look to take ownership of such projects for money.
Shepherd Beheaded in Tunisia
This week some Islamic militants in Tunisia kidnapped and killed a young Shepherd named Okba Dhouibi. Security troops and residents in the region found Dhouibi’s body in Tunisia’s mountains near the border with Algeria. The Islamic Militants seized the young shepherd while taking care of his sheep and beheaded him.
Tunisian forces have been carrying out operations in the region where the young shepherd got killed. The forces operate in the Kasserine and Saloum mountain range. The forces aim to flush out Ajned Kilafha militants allied to the Islamic state from the mountain ranges. The militant group linked to the IS group and Al Qaeda took control and started living in the hilly, desolate terrain on Tunisia’s border. The hilly terrain stretches along the border with Algeria, where sometimes the Islamist militants and the Tunisian forces fight. The authorities and senior officers in Tunisia regard the threat in their borders as contained.
Militant Attacks Continue to Rise
But the militants continue to kill numerous people. Most of the people killed end up being civilians or government security forces. Additionally, numerous people have ended up dispaled by the clashes the Islamic militant’s cause. Residents of regions experiencing militant attacks expect havok to continue as most groups causing attacks end up declaring allegiance to the Islamic State. After their declaration, the startup groups massively step up attacks in both scale and frequency.
In Tunisia, attacks involving beheadings were unheard of till recently. Residents, friends, and family of the young shepherd who was beheaded by militants mourned his death. The Prime minister of Tunisia, Hichem Mechichi, assured that the violent act would not go unpunished.
