Differences Between Ice Cream And Gelato?

Ice cream and gelato have a lot in common. They tend to confuse many people. More so, since both are a product of dairy and sugar flavorings, they share more similarities than differences. However, because the types and proportions of ingredients used differ, they are not the same product. Although the two products can be yummy confusing, some of the differences include:

Ice creams in the US have a minimum milk fat percentage of 10. However, most ice cream companies always use extra. Meanwhile, gelato contains milkfat percentage usually, less than 10%.

While the gelato companies make it with milk, ice cream companies make them from large portions of cream. Moreover, ice cream brands also make them with 1.4% egg yolk, unlike gelatos. Surprisingly, it is possible to prepare ice cream without an egg. While to make gelato, one must use an egg.

Ice cream vendors serve both gelatos and ice creams at different temperature ranges. Since ice creams melt, venders do serve them at super frosty temperatures. While gelatos are served warm.
