Facebook

Facebook has been having trouble with the US President due to the posts that Trump has been posting on social media. These posts seem to violate the policies of Facebook on misinformation. Just a while ago, Facebook was having serious troubles with big companies that threatened to take their ads out of FB.

This problem started after President Donald Trump posted a controversial post and FB never took any action. FB held a meeting with the leaders of these organizations but it didn’t turn out well. They recommended Facebook to take action on the issues of hate speech and misinformation.

However, Facebook said that they are still good without the ad dollars of big companies. This is because the SMBs compose the larger percentage of the ad business of Facebook. Moreover, FB and the Big 4 tech firms have been under anti-trust scrutiny due to unethical business practices. This latest update is about FB and Twitter punishing Trump for posting the wrong content. His post said that young people are invulnerable to the virus.

The United States public health says that young people especially children have no invulnerability to coronavirus.

What Social Media Platforms are Saying

The FB spokesperson says the content is inclusive of untrue claims that some people are invulnerable from the corona. The spokesperson said the post is abuse to FB rules around misinformation. This seems to be the 1st time FB dealt with Trump’s controversial posts based on the misinformation rules.

On the other hand, a Twitter spokesperson said that Team Trump’s tweet was an abuse of the Twitter misinformation policy. Moreover, Twitter put on hold Donald Jr’s account for spreading a clip that was linked to misinformation on the corona.
