As the United States is nearing its general elections, the Americans should review Trump’s rule and make a wise decision. The US President seems to be making quite some irrational decisions. For example, he wants to ban 2 Chinese apps that help Americans connect to the outside world. WeChat and TikTok are very important to the people of America, China, and the world at large.
Moreover, China has also banned some of the social media platforms in the United States. It seems like these 2 countries are in a revenge situation. Just recently, there was an issue of a Chinese trader sending unsolicited mysterious seeds in American mailboxes. The residents notified the authorities and instructed them not to plant the seeds in their soils.
The agricultural authorities said that the seeds were China’s plan of bioterrorism. The 2 Chinese apps that President Donald Trump wants to ban are Tik Tok and WeChat.
What Is WeChat?
This platform is common among people who have links or connections to China. People view it as a social network but it has more functions than just connecting socially. It creates ways of making payments, finding a date, and receiving news updates. The Chinese authorities view it as a tool in China’s internal supervision mechanism. The Chinese Communist Party uses it to spread misinformation to the Chinese people living outside China.
What Is TikTok?
It is a Chinese app that has over 75 million monthly users in the US. The people who are under 20 years are the majority of users. People use the app to share short video content that involves songs and comedy. It allows private messaging too.

Background Of Banning The Chinese App
Donald Trump promised to ban Tik Tok as it was a threat to national security. Microsoft was in talks to buy the Tik Tok United States business. The president said he would back the sale to Microsoft as long as the US authority got a part of the sales price. Trump gave warning and said he would ban Tik Tok in the country as from 15th September.
In 2019, the US government also made a decision against the Huawei and the ZTE. The head of state seems that he wants to engage in a trade war against China, which is a competitor to the US. Trump goes ahead and says that China is the cause of the current global pandemic which has disrupted the economy of America.
China also went ahead and banned Twitter, Facebook, and Google which are the platforms of the United States.
Trump Signs Executive Orders Aiming at the 2 Chinese Apps
Donald Trump authorized 2 executive orders to ban the two Chinese apps. The declaration came as Microsoft is planning to purchase TikTok.
The orders against 2 China’s biggest apps are the newest action in the administration of Trump’s war against China. Washington also declared proposals that Chinese companies on the US stock market ought to be out. Unless the firms offer watchdogs with the way into their accounts, their existence on the US stock market is under a threat.
What Donald Trump Said
President Donald Trump says:
“Additional steps must be taken to deal with the national emergency with respect to the ICTSSC. The spread in the US mobile applications that firms in China develop and own continues to threaten national security.”
Trump claims that the ability of TikTok to gather information can permit China to locate the workers in the US government. This may lead to some probability of criminal acts happening such as blackmails. The Department of Homeland Security and the United States Armed Forces have prohibited Tik Tok on government’s devices.
The banning of WeChat caused anxiety among users as they wondered how they could connect with their loved ones. Moreover, the act may heighten the view in China that the US is squashing its competitor in the turf of tech.
