[post_slider]

Spanish children have been at home from 14 March reason being to curb the spread of covid-19. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez now proposes a rule on 27 April so that they can relax their minds. However, as confinement of children is necessary at these moment, some of the leaders have suggested. And pleaded with the government to allow the children outside

Since the start of this pandemic, Spain has experienced over 20,000 deaths. Spain has reported over 200,000 cases of covid-19 so far though the country is under lockdown. On Saturday evening briefing, the Prime Minister said that Spain had left behind the most extreme moments and contained the brutal onslaught of the pandemic.

Sanchez said that he is to ask the parliament to extend Spain’s state of alarm to 9 May. This is because the achievements made were still insufficient and, above all, fragile and could not be jeopardized by hasty decisions.

Confinement of Children due to coronavirus

Spain had reached a point where the number of cases was rapidly increasing. Earlier covid-19 used to hit up to nearly 1000 deaths each day. The current figures have shown a downward curve. Also, the number of new infections has stabilized. It is also possible that the weekend figures can be misleading. This is because of the seduction in the ministry of health to release the reported data.

Health of children during quarantine

There has been a growing social and political pressure on the prime minister to allow children to go outside. This is because it is unhealthy to put them under lockdown as they are likely to suffer mentally. Opposition leader again tweeted that these young ones are now climbing walls after one month of confinement.

However, a poll by 40dB for EI Pais stated that 59% of those asked thought that the lockdown is healthy. This is because it is only for a short period.

Spanish mayor said the children be allowed to go outside. However, the main lockdown measures remain in place. Only the adults allowed to go to visit food shops and pharmacies or work considered essentials. All through children are barred from going outside homes ultimately.

About eight million children in Spain have now spent five weeks in confinement. This has stipulated to the growing unease of risk to their health. The Spanish Children rights coalition has called for the government to allow both boys and girls to play outside. This is because of the mental and physical health problems that they are most likely to incur.

Some countries have decided to open kindergartens. Germany will open some schools on 4 May although the most populous state will begin opening on Monday. Sweden has kept its schools open throughout the crisis, but none of these countries have been hit severely as Spain.

Take away

The Prime Minister said that for a week, the children are to be allowed outside though he never added how this would take place. Sanchez said that he would discuss the details of easing the restrictions with regional leaders. Reports say that the relaxations would only apply to under 12s, but that has not been confirmed.
