Will China’s apology do the trick? The world is curious if China will have the decency to apologize for all its deliberate racist actions against Africans. The Coronavirus pandemic might have been an error, but racism is nothing more than a deliberate intention to discriminate and oppress all thought to be inferior. Chinese are segregated in various parts of the world including the US. If this is the case, why do Chinese who are also prey to other races, discriminate against blacks who are universally known to be a hospitable anti-racist race?
The Freedom Movement conducted a peaceful procession at Black Star Square in Accra, Ghana, on Sunday, April 29. The demonstration expressed unity with the oppressed Africans who the Chinese are persecuting amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the Freedom Movement march is among the first massive protests on the continent. The movement is raising awareness of black injustice and racism in China, thus demanded that “China should formally apologize” to the Black people worldwide.
“China Should Apologize”: Freedom Movement Demands
Jacob Caesar is an activist for the Freedom Movement. The Chinese treatment of blacks in China deeply troubled him. The worst thing is, the Chinese are trying to import their police department to settle in Africa. Hence, building their laws for Africans to abide by, yet Africa has its police departments and rules to follow. Recolonization is the last thing Africans will accept.
The lack of official denunciations or apologies from the Chinese government in light of Africa-China’s so-called strong friendship shocked Jacob. Therefore, the freedom activist decided to use his influence to make clear to the world that Covid-19 should not be used in China or any other country as a justification to stigmatize or deny black people their rights and freedom.
“China should apologize. These actions are unacceptable considering the eminent value Africa and our resources play in global economies and supply chains,” says Jacob Ceaser.
Through the march, demonstrators retained social distancing policies wearing facemasks with the slogans ‘Freedom of Speech’. They had signs bearing phrases like ‘Africa is a Beacon of Hope’. However, the police were there to maintain a peaceful protest.
Jacob says: “I believe the virus respects no gender, race, religion, age, or color. Undoubtedly, this could be a sign telling the world, we are all equal. There is a need to come together as One World to overcome the crisis and restore humanity.”
African Leaders Are Waking Up from their Long Slumber
The strength of common voices to achieve peaceful change is essential for Africans and black people worldwide. Consequently, African diplomats have raised complaints to government officials in China. Even so, every black citizen in the world is concerned about this abuse. Any one living in, or traveling to, China, and other countries may experience the same brutality on the continent or in the diaspora. In the event of silence, this abuse and disrespect in China and other countries will proceed and become common. Certainly, black people are not animals as displayed in Chinese museums and galleries.
Since the world accuses the Chinese of having a hand in the COVID-19 global outbreak, they are probably shifting blame and venting their anger towards the Africans. It is absurd to accept that logic as an excuse for what might have been their hidden agenda all this while. The pandemic has exposed the Chinese true attitude towards the Africans. Several African leaders are now aware of Chinese intentions. Parliaments in different African states are voting to take action against the Chinese mistreatment of blacks in China. Several Members of Parliament in Nigeria voted against China.
“Those in support of the motion against Chinese say ‘aye’, and those against it say ‘nay’,” states the speaker of parliament of the Republic of Nigeria.
