Queen of katwe is a Disney film of a chess prodigy that was a true story based. Actress Pearl Waligwa featured in this film, is now dead. Lupita Nyong’o stared as her mother. Mr. David Oyelowo acted as her class teacher. Nikita had a brain tumor, and she died at fifteen years.
About the film
The film was of a true story of Phiona Mutesi. She started playing chess at nine. However, she was not in school most of the time. This condition did not stop her from going to compete at the international chess tournaments. The late actress played as Gloria. She was a friend of Phiona, and she helped Fiona in understanding the rules of chess.
The film director efforts toward her medication.
When diagnose came out, Queen of Katwe director, Mr. Mira Nair, helped in organizing people in support of her treatment that was to be in India. Doctors from Uganda had previously quoted that they were no necessary types of equipment in Uganda to treat her. She was later in the year 2017, given an all-clear. However, this was not to last as another brain tumor reoccurred, which led to her death.

Tributes to Queen of Katwe’s Nikita Celebrity Deaths of 2020
“It is with great sadness that I post about the passing of Nikita Waligwa, the sweet, warm, talented girl whom I worked with on the film, Queen Of Katwe,” Nyong’ o wrote. “She played Gloria with such vibrancy.” Lupita mourns. Lupita took it to her Instagram, where she honored the young actress. She termed her as a “sweet and talented” she went ahead and shared a photo of Nikita’s character, Gloria. The photo was accompanied by a quote from Gloria’s character. The citation read.” In chess, a small one can become a big one.” She further said how Nikita played her role with vibrancy.
“In real life, she had the enormous challenge of battling brain cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and community as they come to terms with having to say goodbye so soon. May she truly rest in peace. May it be well with her soul.”
“This is terrible news. I loved her and loved the film.” Mindy Kaling commented.
Mr. Oyelowo, who acted as Nikita’s chess teacher, paid tributes to her on his Instagram. He shared the same photo Lupita had shared and wrote,
“We mourn the loss of our beautiful Nikita Pearl Waligwa. She was a ball of light n @queenofkatwemovie and in life. Her battle with a brain tumor was humbling to witness. Her light will live. #RIP”
Octavia spencer reacted to her demise in the Oyelowo’s post comment section saying,
“oh, Nooo!! Praying for her and her loved ones!. Olivia Munn also reacted to the post with several emojis.”
