The Second-Wave of Colonization: Ghana enstools a Chinese as Chief

[post_slider]

The colonization of African countries went beyond their point and thoughts of their own culture. In the present-day, several countries cannot survive without the support of the British government. The political structure and the total serenity African countries should enjoy were swept under the carpet. Their leadership system was seen as obsolete, and they were given a joint government they named democracy. When they were in charge and at the helm of African affairs, they made decisions that were not of benefit to the African continent and its people. Some malicious decisions made by the colonialists still affect Africa countries up-to-date. Recently, Ghanaians expressed disdain towards the people of Kwahu Abetifi, a town in the Eastern region of Ghana, for having enstooled a Chinese man as the area chief.

Second-wave of Colonization

The news was all over social media that a Chinese National had been enstooled as the development chief, commonly known as Nkosuohene in Ghana. The unbelievable incident took place in Kwahu Abetifi, a small town in Ghana. One might peg this act to the rampant corruption cases in Africa today, the likes of the COVID-19 billionaires. On the other hand, the act can be of benefit to the people in the area as far as leadership and development are concerned. To find the truth, a little digging and time can tell the tale. But maybe it is because of the inferiority complex in the leadership ability of the people of Kwahu Abetifi and its gone leaders. They wanted to taste fruits from a different tree, and only the tongue can reveal its real taste.

The Elephant in the Room Enstoolment Ceremony

The Enstoolment ceremony is always special, and surprisingly it remained special on the 5th of September, 2020, as if nothing unusual ever took place. Everything was conducted, usually, as a grand durbar was organized at Kwahu palace to commemorate the special day.

Sun Qiang, the Chinese Nation turned the development chief in the Kwahu Abetifi area, was given a traditional stool name, Barima Kofi Ayeboafo. After this, the man had the power to start working. One can wonder whether the conventional name will change everything and how the Ghanaian viewed the act. Are we that inferior to import leadership from some other countries? Maybe the Ghanaians, particularly the people of Kwahu Abetifi, had their best reasons.
