Did you know that fatty and sugary foods cause sleeping disorders?

They have attributed scanty sleeping habits to the intake of energy-dense foods and sugar. This follows research conducted on about 500 women on the program AHA go Red. The study examined sleeping patterns in women and the prevalence of cardiac arrest. They conducted this study for a decade. They have revealed these sweet beverages and fatty meals responsible for overweight and obesity. From the analysis, habitual sleep variability ranged from short sleep hours too long sleep hours and even sleeplessness. They regard all these as sleeping disorders. The proliferating prevalence of weight and obesity is alarming; hence precautions should be adopted.

The findings on the alarming obesity and weight rates are essential in promoting sustainable development. This is because the chronic illness arising from such unhealthy states may cause death. Therefore, persons need to adopt healthy lifestyles. According to the study conducted, quality sleep is fundamental in maintaining good health.

Is Sugar contributing to sleeping problems

Aggarwal stated that there exists a connection between poor diets and sleeping disorders. Inferior dietary methods often stimulate the need for more food intake. Short sleeping hours promote hormonal changes i.e., the hormones that communicate fullness are suppressed. As a result, it triggers perceived hunger and increased appetite, thus overconsumption. “It’s previously been shown that when we are sleep deprived, or we don’t get good quality sleep, our hormones can stimulate hunger,” Aggarwal said. “The ones that regulate the suppression of hunger and fullness and satiety can be off-balance.”

Sleeplessness may substantially affect the functioning of the hippocampus. This refers to a region within the brain which regulates the urge for food intake. Habitual ingestion of fatty and sweet foods is likely to impair its functioning. Such that persons might find a challenge of abstaining from unhealthy cravings. Pre and post pregnancy is also a contributing factor to insomnia. This is because of stress levels women overcome during child-rearing, caregiving to spouse, menopause, and even marital conflicts.

Another potential contributor is overconsumption. Too much intake of food causes gastrointestinal discomfort hence resulting in sleeping problems. Many a time over ingestion hinders one from finding the best sleeping posture. Making one remain unrelaxed throughout the night.

Ways to overcome sleeping disorders

In comprehending the significance of adequate sleep, it’s essential to note the importance of healthy dietary means. This is because food plays a vital role in maintaining good health. However, it doesn’t have to be just food but healthy foods. They should control there amounts of what we feed in as too much consumption is harmful to our health. Besides, it is also crucial to beware of the reasons behind sleepless nights. If not, it is vital to seek medical attention. For constant therapies with physicians may provide potential reasons behind insomnia. The state of one’s bedroom is also a necessity. The bedroom should be free from strenuous lights. Good sleep hygiene enables an individual to have quality sleeping time. Similarly, one can also develop a wind-down routine i.e., having a shower before sleep and switching off phones. This promotes a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere for slumber.
