STOP ATTACKING OMO-AGEGE, EX-LAWMAKER BEST FOR PIPELINE SURVEILLANCE
An ex-militant leader of the Phase 1 Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, ‘General Joseph Figbele, has warned those he described as idle-minded and lazy miscreants who he said parade themselves as ex-militant leaders of Urhobo-Isoko Coalition of Ex-militant Leaders to stop disparaging the person of the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in their tirade. He noted that the former Senator is qualified to handle the pipeline security surveillance contract awarded to his younger brother, Jimmy Omo-Agege. At the same time, he held sway in the red Chambers of the National Assembly.
Figbele gave the warning in the Udu area of Warri, Delta State, South-South Nigeria, over the weekend, stressing that there’s no other Urhobo man who is more qualified to handle the surveillance project than the former lawmaker who said he brought glory and honor to the Urhobo nation in particular and the Delta region in general to which he said the said well-meaning Urhobo sons and daughters are proud to associate with the politician.
Stressing further, the respected ex-militant leader, who has not given too many words, said the attacks on the person of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and his family members are becoming an occupation to some disgruntled elements among Urhobo youths, adding that the lawmaker is an elder statesman who deserves the respect of all Urhobo sons and daughters all over the world questioning the rationale behind the daily vilification of a man who he said is deservedly resting from the cerebral stress of lawmaking after his 8-year meritorious service to the nation.
According to Figbele, Senator Omo-Agege has been turned into an underdog and whipped by his people, who are supposed to thrust him up for writing the Urhobo name on the global map for excellence and honor, which he said has never been so in the annals of Urhobo history. He added that for all he achieved for his people and the region, the verdict of history shall be kind to him now and in the future.
Like every other person, Figbele stated, Jimmy Omo-Agege bided for the contract for the job of security surveillance of the oil facilities in Urhoboland, and he got it; the former warlord wondered why the youths of Urhobo land won’t allow his elder brother to breathe as he called on the Urhobo-Isoko Concerned Leaders to immediately retract “the garbage it spewed recently in an online medium against the globally respected leader of Urhobo nation. That Coalition is not alone in their misadventure as we have other materialistic, self-acclaimed Urhobo Mayor who, at every opportunity, bullies our leader. It is disrespectful to the culture and tradition of the Urhobo nation for younger ones to insult, bully, harass, and embarrass an elder in the manner our youths are doing. No matter how badly brought up, It is a condemnable and uncharitable thing to do by anyone.”
The statement called on security agents to go after the leaders of the groups he described as faceless and cowards who he said could reveal their identity. Still, it would rather engage in identity theft to drive home their inordinate desires of maligning the Senator who he said successfully flew the flag of the Urhobo nation in the National Assembly with clinical efficiency and with an unblemished record, a standard he noted would challenge to attain by anyone from any Senatorial district in the delta region.
“To my Urhobo people, particularly the youths, why destroy your own? Why blackmail our legislative maestro, legend, pride, and symbol of excellence for want of a surveillance contract? Is the pipeline surveillance contract the only job for you to struggle for? Some contracts are awarded by governments across the board. Why not bid for them and let our leader be? It is time for the security agencies to go after these demagogues who won’t allow peace to reign.
“They are largely unemployable brigands, stark illiterates with a badly developed conscience and poor mannerisms who are best described as bandits to commonsense and should be hauled into the gulag by the authorities. Omo-Agege is a nationalist who deserves the unwavering support and love from every Urhobo man and incessant attacks by minions.”
For the records, Figbele said, Zane Energy Limited has its workforce among the Urhobo-Isoko youths who are ready to work and are executing the surveillance contract according to the dictates of its agreement. None of the workers claim to be owed any arrear in salaries and allowances, wondering what informed “the misinformation by unknown and self-acclaimed Coalition of questionable characters.”
Figbele seeks to investigate the pseudo-groups of Urhobo youths who parade themselves as leaders, thereby badly influencing the upcoming ‘leaders of tomorrow’ due to greed and avarice.
The youthful ex-militant leader warned that should the attacks continue, he wouldn’t hesitate to lead an onslaught against those behind the vilification of the former lawmaker, adding that as time goes on, they will be unveiled, named, and shamed so that Urhobo people will know the antagonists of their leaders.
