Rwandan president meets with UK PM at 10 Downing Street

Rwandan president meets with UK

Rwandan president meets with UK: On Tuesday (Apr. 9), Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom met with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda at 10 Downing Street.

Concurrent with the discussion, there were reports in the British media indicating that the accommodation in Kigali allocated for the project had been sold, and the UK government’s intention to transfer some asylum-seekers to Rwanda on a one-way basis had halted.

The two countries’ agreements, reached nearly two years ago, provide for the permanent relocation of migrants to Rwanda from Britain in the event that they cross the English Channel in tiny boats.

Nevertheless, the British Parliament has debated and faced multiple legal obstacles regarding the execution of this agreement.
