Lenny Kravitz Joins Hollywood’s Star-Studded Legacy with Walk of Fame Honor
Rock icon Lenny Kravitz was bestowed with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony attended by his daughter Zoë Kravitz and longtime friend Denzel Washington. The 59-year-old musician and actor expressed his gratitude to the city of Los Angeles, where he found his footing after moving away from home at 15. Kravitz credited Norman Lear, the creator of “The Jeffersons,” for jumpstarting his Hollywood career by selecting his mother, Roxie Roker, for a role on the show.
Reflecting on his teenage years in Los Angeles, Kravitz reminisced about walking the streets of Hollywood, seeking inspiration from the names of his idols engraved on the Walk of Fame. He revealed that he never dreamed of having a star but often wandered the boulevard searching for a place to stay. Now, seeing his name permanently etched on those same streets, he described the feeling as “surreal” and “indescribable.”
Denzel Washington, a close friend and “brother,” spoke warmly about Kravitz, emphasizing their longstanding bond. Marla Gibbs, the 92-year-old star of “The Jeffersons,” was also present at the event, alongside Zoë Kravitz’s fiancé, Channing Tatum. Kravitz expressed his amazement at having individuals who were part of his early career gathered in one place.
Kravitz acknowledged the importance of following his heart in the music industry, turning down record deals that sought to change his style. He shared that he always felt something special he needed to accomplish but didn’t have it figured out yet.
The ceremony celebrated Kravitz’s musical achievements and the personal and professional connections that have shaped his journey. As he received this prestigious honor, Kravitz reflected on his resilience, individuality, and the profound impact of staying true to his artistic vision in the ever-evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.
