Chamisa to challenge Mnangagwa in Zimbabwe elections

[post_slider]

According to Zimbabwe’s largest opposition organization, Nelson Chamisa will challenge Emmerson Mnangagwa in the upcoming presidential election.

Mr. Chamisa, a lawyer, and Christian preacher, was believed to be the Citizens Coalition for Change’s solitary candidate, and he would be investigated prior to being officially recognized as a candidate.

The party has accused the ruling Zanu-PF of targeting its opponents ahead of the August election.

The government has prohibited a number of political opposition gatherings.

Mr. Chamisa has criticized the government’s treatment of CCC legislator Job Sikhala, who has been imprisoned since June on allegations of spreading false information, and has accused the government of “weaponizing the law.”
