CAN’s Call to Bring Home Remaining Chibok Girls

As Nigeria marks a decade since the tragic abduction of 276 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has issued a heartfelt plea for the rescue of the remaining victims still held in captivity. In a statement released on Saturday, the apex Christian body expressed steadfast solidarity with the grieving families whose daughters have endured a decade of unimaginable hardship.

Rev. Ozumba Emmanuel Nicodemus, the National Director for Education, Youth, and Women’s Development, emphasized the association’s unwavering stance in demanding action to secure the release of the abducted girls. He underscored the gravity of the situation, stressing that the Chibok girls’ plight represents a horrific tragedy etched deeply into the nation’s conscience.

The trauma endured by the abducted girls and their families over the past decade is immeasurable, resonating across the nation and beyond. CAN refuses to stay silent while these innocent children remain in captivity, yearning for freedom and reunion with their families. The association reiterated its call for the government to escalate efforts and take decisive measures to rescue the remaining hostages.

CAN urged the government to mobilize all available resources, engage relevant security agencies, and collaborate with international partners to expedite the release of the Chibok girls. This is not only a matter of national importance but also a testament to the nation’s commitment to upholding the rights and safety of its citizens, particularly the most vulnerable.

In addition to government action, CAN called upon the international community, humanitarian organizations, and individuals to join forces in advocating for the release of the Chibok girls. Together, they can amplify their voices and exert pressure on the abductors to bring an end to this prolonged ordeal.

The association affirmed its unwavering commitment to seeking justice and ensuring the safe return of the Chibok girls. It vowed to continue engaging with stakeholders and leveraging all available channels to shed light on their plight and secure their release.

CAN rallied all Nigerians to stand united, lend their voices, and demand immediate action from the government. Through prayers, actions, and unwavering advocacy, they aim to bring hope and expedite the day when the Chibok girls will be reunited with their families and liberated from the chains of captivity.
