World Food Programme resumes Sudan activities

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said on Monday that it would immediately restart operations in Sudan, which had been halted following the death of one of its staff members working in the nation. The incident led to the suspension of WFP’s activities in Sudan.

Cindy McCain, the executive director of the World Food Program, stated that the organization was “rapidly resuming our programs to provide the lifesaving assistance that many so desperately need right now.”

After three workers for the World Food Programme (WFP) were killed on April 15 in fighting between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the WFP announced that it had temporarily halted all operations in Sudan.
