UK Government: Persons Vaccinated in Africa, India, UAE are Considered Unvaccinated

UK government reveals its latest travel policy. People who received the COVID-19 vaccine in Africa, South America, the UAE, Turkey, Jordan, Thailand, Russia, or India will be considered unvaccinated when traveling. The United Kingdom listed countries whose vaccination program was recognized, and they considered those that did not make it to the list unvaccinated. According to Alex Macheras, an aviation analyst, the United Kingdom confirmed the statement in a tweet . "UK government confirm tonight that if a person has been vaccinated in Africa, South America, or countries including UAE, India, Turkey, Jordan, Thailand, Russia, you are considered "unvaccinated" and must follow "unvaccinated" rules 10 day home quarantine & tests," Alex Macheras posted. The travel rule will go into effect on October 4th , and it will recognize vaccinations in 17 countries, including Australia, Canada, Japan, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. It will subject passengers from unrecognized countries to a pre-departure, PCR tests on days 2 and 8 of arrival, and self-isolation at their assigned address for ten days. According to James Cleverly, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa in the Foreign, Common Wealth and Development Office, the UK completes plans to include the UAE. In his tweet , "We are completing arrangements with the UAE to include their nationals and residents in our plans to open up to fully vaccinated from other countries from October 4th," James Cleverly posted. Alex Macheras, an aviation analyst, criticized the travel policy further, claiming it was overly complicated. "Quite something for the UK to take such a stance against so many countries' vaccine rollouts… especially those countries administering the same vaccines as the UK (Pfizer/AZ/Moderna/etc). As we expect, the UK's latest travel policy is as unnecessary as ever." With countries like Kenya that received hundreds of thousands of doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the United Kingdom, the issues have sparked speculation about why programs are not good enough to the British government. The case has also caused anger and confusion over the UK COVID travel rules.
