Apart from music, platforms such as Netflix are updating their catalog with new films for people to watch while at home.
The Cairo Celebration Choir and Pandemic song of Hope
The Cairo Celebration Choir existed in 2000 as Nayer Nagui as its founder. This is when Dr. Sobhi Bidair was the manager of the Cairo Opera House Company. The core idea of creating the choir was to do a Christmas event with the Cairo Opera House artists.
The choir has increased in number, having over 100 participants of various nationalities are in connection with Cairo music academics. The choir sang in the opening of the 30th Cairo International Film Festival back in 2006.
Recently, officials called off their events due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the circumstances did not stop them from giving a positive message. They made a hopeful song amid this pandemic.
About the Song
The name of the song is ‘The Day’. Over 300,000 people have watched the video on the choir’s social media page (Facebook) since last month. The song is also on other digital music platforms and Egypt’s radio.
Power of Social Media Amid Pandemic
Social media has been a helpful tool for artists to promote their songs since they cannot organize events amid pandemic.
The choir founder says:
“We did one thing during the lockdown, which is this song. And the reason was to spread hope and here you go, it is doing that. So, we are very happy. Everybody is very happy.”
The Creation of the Song
The choir participants, artists, and musicians made a recording of the song on their devices individually. The sound engineer combined the clips. The choir founder also included a sign language translator. The reason for this was to take care of the deaf people also.
