The Sudanese army reported on Friday that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fired on a Turkish evacuation aircraft as it landed at Wadi Seyidna airstrip near Khartoum, causing damage to the plane’s fuel system.

Hundreds of people have died and tens of thousands have been displaced as a consequence of two weeks of conflict between the army and its adversary.

According to eyewitnesses and live media broadcasts, violence flared up again in various neighborhoods of Khartoum on Friday, despite a late-night deal to prolong a ceasefire for 72 hours to enable humanitarian access.

According to the Turkish Defense Ministry, there were no deaths, however, a Turkish evacuation plane was shot. The RSF said that the army was “spreading lies” by claiming to have shot on a passing plane.

The RSF declared in a statement, “It is not true that we targeted any aircraft in the sky of Wadi Seyidna in Omdurman.” Since midnight, “our forces have remained strictly committed to the humanitarian truce that we agreed upon.”

Sudan’s military forces stated the plane was being repaired.
