The Crop Estimate Committee (CEC) of the South African government said on Tuesday that it is expected that South African farmers would harvest 1% more maize in 2022/23. Compared to what they did in 2022/23.
The forecast was made by the CEC that the harvest in 2023 would be 15.615 million tons. This would be higher than the harvest in 2022, which was 15.470 million tons.
It is anticipated that there would be 8.187 million tons of white corn available for human consumption. Plus 7.428 million tons of yellow corn. However the majority of the yellow corn will be utilized to feed animals.
