South Africa quarantines student parties following a spread of Corona in the Country. It is a culture for most schools in the South African region to organize end-year school parties. A series that sees most students celebrating the end of an academic year and looking forward to the next. This year, things have been a little different. Corona had at first put a halt on all ongoing academics. However, along the way, schools were re-opened under strict measures. With the academic year done, students have a reason to celebrate. It is in the event of these parties that Covid-19 cases have, as a result, spread.

Consequently, the attendees are to go on a 10-day quarantine routine. The health minister, Zweli Mkhize, confirms that the events serve as a super spreader for the disease. Covid cases from the rage parties have so far been identified. Moreover, a COVID-19 test is paramount for every individual present at the parties. The parties host thousands of students; hence the possible spread of the virus is inevitable.

Surging COVID-19 Cases in South Africa

South Africa is the most affected country by the pandemic on the continent. With more than 800,000 infections and 21,000 deaths, the country`s corona spread is worrying. There is fear for a second wave of the virus. The Eastern and western cape is hard to hit. President Cyril Ramaphosa has, as a result, communicated new restrictions to curb the spread.

Rage organizers response

An email was sent in the hopes of getting into contact with the organizers. There was no immediate response from the rage organizers. Reports from the media events indicate that the organizers were responsible. Social distancing and protective measures from the virus are in play. Additionally, the organizers are working towards ensuring no crowns in the events.
