Saturday night’s 3-2 Villarreal victory over Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu concluded the 28th round of La Liga matches. Samuel Chukwueze scored two goals.

Real Madrid took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Villarreal defender Pau Torres deflected a strike into his own net.

On two separate occasions, Chukwueze came close to scoring but fell short.

The Nigerian winger scored his first goal of the match in the 39th minute after a brilliant run into the penalty area and fired past Thibaut Courtois.

Thanks to Chukwueze’s goal, Villarreal entered the break deadlocked.

Three minutes after the restart, Vinicius Junior raced into the penalty area and buried the ball to restore Madrid’s advantage.

The yellow submarine’s striker, José Luis Morales, tied the game in the 70th minute, but the goal was initially disallowed for offside.

In the 80th minute, Villarreal’s game-winning goal was scored by the Nigerian forward Chukwueze, who was assisted by Alex Baena.

This season, the 23-year-old has scored a career-high six goals in La Liga. Three of his nine most recent goals have been scored against Real Madrid.

Chukwueze has appeared 40 times for Quique Setién’s team, scoring 13 goals and contributing 11 assists.
