According to the Kremlin’s statement released on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart in South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, have spoken over the phone.
The two leaders reportedly talked about “issues related to the well-known African initiative to find a solution to the Ukrainian conflict,” according to the report.
In the not-too-distant future, according to the statement, Putin will host a meeting with a delegation consisting of several African heads of state.
“Preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg at the end of July and the upcoming BRICS summit in Johannesburg in August were also discussed,” the Kremlin said. “These summits will take place in St. Petersburg and Johannesburg, respectively.”
