Ogun Police Rescue Three Indians, Neutralize Two Suspected Kidnappers

The Ogun State Police Command announced that it successfully neutralized two suspected kidnappers who had been terrorizing travelers along the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Benin expressway in a gun battle.

According to Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, the operation took place during a rescue mission to free abducted Indian nationals. The police, in collaboration with local vigilantes, managed to rescue the kidnapped individuals, identified as Tejaram Chauhan, Kaduwal Pradhan, and Medani Kathiwada, who had been taken on Friday.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered a substantial sum of cash, totaling N7.9 million, and 1,500 Indian Rupees, believed to be part of the ransom collected by the kidnappers.

The incident was triggered by a distress call from the Manager of Breeze Company Nigeria Limited, located along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway. The manager reported that kidnappers had opened fire on two vehicles transporting company officials at Kajola junction, along the Sagamu-Siun-Abeokuta expressway.

While the police escort attached to the first vehicle managed to repel the attackers and ensure the safety of all occupants, three Indian nationals traveling in the second vehicle were abducted.

Following the distress call, the anti-kidnapping section of the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, launched a comprehensive operation to rescue the abducted individuals. A fierce gun battle ensued between the police and the kidnappers in the forest along Benin-Sagamu Papalanto.

As a result of the encounter, two of the six kidnappers were neutralized, and the abducted victims were rescued unharmed. Law enforcement recovered two AK-47 rifles, one single-barrel locally made gun, a sword, a cell phone, criminal charms, and 65 rounds of ammunition from the scene.

The two deceased suspects were taken to the public mortuary while efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining four members of the gang, who are currently at large. The successful operation reflects the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to combat criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents and travelers within the state.
