Obudu Mountain Resort: A Novel Tourist Attraction in Nigeria

[post_slider]

The Obudu Mountain Resort is situated on the Obudu Plateau, close to the Cameroon border in the northeastern region of Cross River State. It was formerly called Obudu Cattle Ranch. It came into existence in 1951 when McCaughley along with his fellow rancher Hugh Jones explored the mountainous regions of Sankwala in Obanliku local government of Cross River State and developed it into what was formerly known as Obudu Cattle Ranch.

As a result of the tourist facilities developed by the Cross Rivers State Government, the resort has witnessed a high influx of both local and international tourists from all over the world. Some of the side attraction at the resort include:

  1. A cable car, helipad and a good road network with which you can access the hilltop which is about 11km stretch from the base. It gives visitors a scenic view while bypassing the extremely winding road to the top
  2. A canopy walkway that gives you a wide view of what nature has to offer,
  3. A natural pool carved out by the downpour of the waterfall,
  4. A poolside snack bar
  5. Outdoor tennis courts
  6. Water slides
  7. Golf Course
  8. Cattle Ranch

The natives of the Obudu community are very welcoming and you could have so much fun no matter your budget size. This is because it caters to tourists who are there for luxury and those who have a tight budget.

October to February is usually the best time to visit the resort. At that time of the year, the flowers blossom, the atmosphere is cool and the weather is friendly. So you could explore nature fully.

The Obudu Mountain Resort hosts an Annual Mountain Race which occurs in November with cash prizes attracting athletes from Nigeria and the rest of the world to compete for the rewards. Obudu resort is being managed by Zedici Capital Limited.
