Nigeria`s Kidnapped Schoolboys Reunite with Their Families

Friday was filled with tears of joy from parents after Nigeria`s kidnapped schoolboys, at last, meet their family. Earlier that week, a total of 344 boys went missing after a successful kidnap. The Boko Haram then claimed the event. A series of tension from both the government and parents dawned in the country. The group had once made a similar incidence some years back by kidnapping a number of girls from their school. All hope of parents ever seeing their boys got lost after the group’s claim. However, Friday saw parents giving thanks to their creator for the unexpected miracle. All the 344 boys, although famished and tired, were back to the arms of their parents.

Events leading to the boy`s Freedom

It took a whole day for all children to go home finally. The President, Muhammadu Buhari, confirms he has not had a smooth ride after the Kidnap. Pressure from all corners of the state expected him to react accordingly and deliver the boys back home. There was further demand for I proved security in the Northwest region of Nigeria.

Nigerians in that region have expressed their disappointment towards the president. Their expectations of the president to deliver in his hometown are being met with utter regrets. Nigerians from this region believe that such an incident should not even occur in the president’s hometown region.

However, the authorities of Nigeria were not hesitant to free the boys. The army credits the use of credible intelligence in the efforts to rescue the boys. It was mission successful, adding to it that not even a single boy went missing. Clearly, they were too careful to prevent a repeat of past mistakes.

A lot about freedom incidence is yet to be divulged. We are yet even to understand if the ransom was involved in the freedom process. Although Boko Haram claims to have done the kidnapping, the President thinks otherwise. Even after one of the boy confirms that the group said that they were Boko Haram. He suspects that bandits were more of the people behind the raid.

The boy`s ordeal during the Kidnap

Right from the horse’s mouth, one of the boys was courageous enough to explain what they went through. They were exposed to the torture of being beaten and being malnourished. Food was only once a day in small portions and water twice a day. One of the boys feeds into the President’s suspicions that the group responsible for the Kidnap Might not be Boko Haram.

According to the interviewed boy, the group coerced him to say that they were Boko Haram and Abu Shekau gang. Abu Shekau is the name of the Islamist group Boko Haram. He added to say that the kidnappers were small boys bearing huge armed weapons. But the boys could not hide the joy of getting back home.

Parents could not be happier. One of the parents, Moreover, as much as she was happy to meet her boy, one of the parents affirms, there is still much to work on. The boys have been exposed to a lot of Trauma and hence need to go through some counseling sessions. This will help them settle in well at home and in society at large. Nigeria`s schoolboys were kidnapped on December 11th. Hence according to the parent, that is a long time of torture hence the need for counseling.
