Nigeria Marks Independence Day amid Challenges

[post_slider]

Every nation will set aside a specific day to remember the time they gained self-independence. Nigeria, under President Muhammadu Buhari, celebrated its 61st Independence Day. The event took place in one of the best cities, Abuja.

Nigeria has experienced many internal security challenges. Various communities are fighting against each other.  On some occasions, the army officers jet crushing some innocent fishermen. This has resulted in fear among the residents in specific villages.

Furthermore, the value of the state currency has depreciated. The country is fighting to regain its normal economic rate. The GDP automatically went down with the effects of the Covid-19. Of course, Nigeria was among the first countries in Africa to experience lockdown. Businesses closed, and many people were unemployed. The bridge between the country and external European nations increased. Minimal imports and exports mean low trade, hence reducing foreign income.

Since the civil war in the 1900s, the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, admitted that Nigeria had had a rough 18 months period from various causes. In addition, the country has struggled with some human factors that result in a reduced economy.

Over the past few weeks, the national security agency sent hundreds of operators to different regions to maintain peace and order. However, the deadly attacks in remote villages have made the security system look inferior. Some people got kidnapped from a ransom gang, going viral from one village to another. As a result, strict measures had to be taken to calm down the unidentified terrorists.

Mr. Muhammadu Buhari has promised his citizens that the government shall continue working towards achieving their big agendas. All legitimate grievances from common residents will be taken care of. His team has come up with some solutions to address all the problems from citizens. A good leader will always focus on the lowest citizens, and they move up.

While speaking to the Associated Press in Abuja, one resident said that the government is full of corrupt leaders. There is a big gap between leaders who are supposed to be working together. Therefore, this leads to embezzlement of funds. The state has not had much time to focus on developing the nation. There is no visible progress that the government can brag about. It’s all in the pockets of the said good leaders.

However, the new breed government has to bear more fruits than it promised. They must work extra hard to achieve ordinary goals. The political instability in the country, which results in deaths, must come to a halt. The head of state should look into this matter first. The three pillars must always work together to ensure people are living to good standards.

Many African nations are trying hard to regain their economic GDP status. For example, Nigeria has opened up its businesses that were under lockdown due to pandemic rules. It’s the mandate of politicians to discuss projects they can invest in to offer employment. The head of state told reporters that some banks would offer loans to those who want to venture into business. Also, foreigners are welcomed to invest in the North African country.
