According to his counsel, Robert Mugabe Jr., 31, faces three charges of willful damage to property. Plus two counts of assault on a police officer.

He reportedly shatter the front windows of the vehicle and spat on the cops. Yet, he refuted the accusations and maintained his innocence. He has been liberated and is trying reconciliation.

According to a police tweet, the arrest was the result of a complaint from Sindiso Nkatazo, his 31-year-old friend. And the value of the damaged items was $12,000 (£10,000).

Mr. Mugabe Jr. is the former president’s second child with his widow, Grace.

ZimLive aired a video of a suit-clad Robert Mugabe Jr. approaching Harare Court. His counsel, Ashiel Mugiya, argued in court that prosecutors had not conducted a full investigation. So, he suggested an out-of-court settlement, as Mr. Mugabe Jr. and the complainant are acquaintances. He  would be called to court if these discussions fail.

The allegations of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest would likely be dismissed, he noted.

After 37 years in government, Robert Mugabe died at age 95 in 2019.
He led Rhodesia’s fight against white minority rule in the 1970s. Although, he was later accused of using violence to win elections and hurt Zimbabwe’s economy.
Analysts doubt his kid would be imprisoned if his father were president.
