The nation of Guinea, located in West Africa, has had a rough weekend over political issues. The power was claimed to have been seized by some soldiers and army officers installed in the top eight regions in various districts. Some neighboring countries threatened sanctions after Alpha Conde, the Guinea President was overthrown. He is serving his third consecutive term in power.
Some of his opponents felt that was illegal. They wanted the constitution to change to give different people the chance to lead. On Wednesday, regional leaders from the West African bloc were to meet. Their main agenda being the insecurity and political matter in Guinea.
Mamady Doubouya, a former French Foreign Legion former officer, said there shall be some transition within a short period. The Frenchman is yet to announce a timeframe. Most Guineans have high hopes for those changes. They yearn for a positive impact on the economy and political situation of the country.
The President, Mr. Conde got detained in his country against traveling to other nations. Furthermore, his political friends were also put under strict rules of traveling outside the country. The West and Central region have received various concerns about such matters from their countries. But such issues were last experienced in the 1990s, a report by Reuters.
The nation had set up some checkpoints which had army officers. But on Tuesday, everything was in order and the central administration had calmed down. On national TV in Guinea, RTG aired out pictures of the newly appointed General Aboubacar Diakite, who has taken over Kankan. The region was the stronghold of the overthrown president, Mr. Conde. Their previous leader governor Sadou Keita has stepped down as the new Junta leader. Keita was not mad at the changes, and in fact he went ahead to say it was a happy moment full of remorse.

Bauxite, the leading export mineral, has diminished in supply. This was due to the eruption of political indifference in the nation. The contract they had with the London Metal Exchange is at risk, although the matter is solved. Those regions with the mineral are still safe. Workers have reported back to their sites although the production level will take time to regain its normal momentum. Some State operators like State-run Chinese Aluminium provided a positive statement. They said their mines region is still operating normally.
But there are companies like Russian Bauxite mines and aluminum refineries that are at risk. Although Conde has regained and expanded the economic growth of the nation, people talk of the increased rate of unemployment.
The rate of corruption is too high, the statistics by Afro-barometer data. The personal living status is high, which the normal citizen cannot afford. The pressure has been there since his second term, but at this point, the Guinea people decided to act.
