Germany’s Road to Euro 2024: Victory Over Netherlands Sparks Confidence

Germany continued their preparations for the Euro 2024 finals with a morale-boosting victory over the Netherlands, further strengthening their belief in their ability to compete on home turf.

After their impressive 2-0 win against France, Germany staged a comeback against the Dutch in Frankfurt, securing a 2-1 victory with Niclas Fullkrug’s 85th-minute winner.

The Dutch took an early lead through Joey Veerman’s fourth-minute volley, but Germany responded swiftly, with Maximilian Mittelstadt equalizing just seven minutes later.

Borussia Dortmund striker Fullkrug then secured the win for Germany with a late header, marking back-to-back victories for the team under manager Julian Nagelsmann for the first time.

Nagelsmann expressed his satisfaction with the win, emphasizing its importance following a series of matches without a victory before this international break. He praised his team’s performance, particularly their possession play and adaptability on the pitch.

The Euro 2024 finals are scheduled to commence on Friday, 14 June at the Allianz Arena in Munich, with Germany facing Scotland in their opening match. They are joined in Group A by Hungary and Switzerland.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands, who made several changes from their previous match against Scotland, are placed in Group D alongside Poland, Austria, and France.

The tournament will conclude with the final on Sunday, 14 July at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
