Given the expected conclusion of a United Nations peacekeeping mission on June 30, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated on Wednesday that Germany is looking into ways to remove its soldiers from Mali more quickly while still doing so in an orderly manner.
This statement was made to the German broadcasting company ZDF.
“For us, this means that we will try to get out of Mali even faster, to get out of Mali but in an orderly way,” he said. “For us, this means that we will try to get out of Mali.”
Germany, which has approximately one thousand troops stationed in Mali, has already begun pulling troops out of the country and is to finish pulling out all its forces by May 2024.
