Football Update: Salah’s Status Still Uncertain Against Chelsea

Liverpool’s star striker, Mohamed Salah, is expected to be a last-minute inclusion in the squad for England’s League Cup final against Chelsea, according to assistant manager Pep Lijnders. Additionally, key players Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai are facing similar uncertainties due to their respective injuries ahead of the highly anticipated match at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Lijnders revealed that the availability of Salah, Nunez, and Szoboszlai will be made after assessing their fitness in the final training sessions. “We still have two days – so today’s session and tomorrow’s – and at the last minute, we will check if they can be there,” stated Lijnders, emphasizing the ongoing evaluation of their conditions.

Salah, who experienced muscle fatigue, was absent from Liverpool’s recent victory over Luton. His hamstring injury, sustained during the African Cup of Nations with Egypt, has raised concerns about his participation in the upcoming final.

Darwin Nunez also missed the midweek game after being substituted at half-time during Liverpool’s 4-1 triumph against Brentford last Saturday. Meanwhile, Dominik Szoboszlai is dealing with a hamstring problem, adding to the team’s injury concerns ahead of the crucial clash.

As Liverpool aims for success in the League Cup final, the uncertainty surrounding the availability of these key players adds an element of suspense to the team’s preparation. The final decisions will hinge on the outcomes of the upcoming training sessions. Liverpool fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on the potential participation of Salah, Nunez, and Szoboszlai in the much-anticipated encounter against Chelsea.
