Fighter Jet Accident: Pilot Lands in Hospital After Singapore Airbase Crash
The defense ministry confirmed that an F-16 fighter jet encountered a mishap at a military airbase in Singapore on Wednesday. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to the ministry’s statement, the pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft before it crashed at Tengah Air Base. The pilot emerged from the situation unharmed and is conscious and able to walk. He is receiving medical attention, and there are no reports of injuries to other personnel.
The defense ministry explained that the Singaporean jet faced an issue during take-off, prompting the pilot to respond promptly in line with emergency procedures. An investigation into the crash has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
Notably, such occurrences are exceedingly rare in Singapore, a city-state known for possessing Southeast Asia’s most advanced air force. This incident recalls a similar 2010 incident in which a military helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in an open field near a residential area due to engine issues.
