Ethiopian Abandoned Bomb Explodes and Kills Three People

[post_slider]

An abandoned bomb in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, exploded on Sunday. A total of three fatalities were confirmed from the incident. The bomb was located in the Lideta area near the country`s capital, right at the Centre. Five more were injured as a result. The casualties were reported to be homeless people. But that still doesn’t mandate their loss of lives. Over the past whole month, Ethiopia has been under war following some political disputes. Any suspicions to link the bombing with the ongoing conflicts with the TPLF have been rendered baseless. There is no credible evidence to pin this on the TPLF.

Cases of Ethiopian Abandoned Bombs

Apparently, this is not the only abandoned bomb in the Country`s capital vicinity. According to the Ethiopian police, there are several Abandoned bombs left in Addis Ababa. Surprisingly, they also detonated. However, there were no casualties reported. The state-owned Ethiopian News Agency promised to divulge more information on the incident once investigations were over.

Ethiopian wrangles with the TPLF

The Tigray People`s Liberation Front has had a month-long conflict with the Ethiopian government. A war that started when the TPLF attacked an army base in the Ethiopian region. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed quickly responded by disbursing army troops in response. Moreover, Mr. Abiy closed down all networks and telecommunication services in the region.

Abiy believes that the Tigray region, which holds 6% of the 110 million Ethiopian population, threatens the country`s unity. In a bid to respond to try and keep the peace, Abiy ensured he conquered the Tigray region by taking over the Mekelle region. However, the TPLF has said they will not give in. A possible insurgence is feared to take place with TPLF`s retaliation.

Peace efforts

The war has affected thousands of people. Sudan has had more than 50,000 refugees streaming into the country from Ethiopia. Recently the Sudanese president visited Ethiopia to make a truce on achieving peace in the country. However, Abiy said there was no need since the war was over. Ethiopia hopes for a continued peace now.
