Egypt Sees 10 Thousand Participants for the Palestinian Cause
In a remarkable display of global solidarity, around 10,000 runners from 30 different countries converged in Cairo to participate in the “Run for Gaza” marathon. The event, aimed at providing urgent humanitarian aid to the people in the Gaza Strip, saw enthusiastic participation and resonated with a shared commitment to supporting those affected by recent conflicts and ongoing humanitarian challenges.
Organized in the scenic Wadi Degla natural protectorate in the Maadi district of Cairo, the marathon garnered attention for its charitable cause. The runners, hailing from diverse backgrounds, united for a common purpose – to contribute to the relief efforts in Gaza. Ticket sales from the marathon will be directed towards providing essential assistance to the people in Gaza, who continue to face the aftermath of conflicts and pressing humanitarian needs.
One of the participants, Lauren Cocula from France, stressed the significance of aiding the people in Gaza, stating that neglecting this cause equates to a failure of humanity itself. The global participation in the event reflects a collective desire to address the pressing challenges faced by the people in the Gaza Strip.
The Run for Gaza marathon was launched by Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Nevin Al-Qabbaj in collaboration with the Egyptian Tribal and Families Council, the Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, and the Minister of Youth and Sports. Yasmine Fouad highlighted the importance of the international participants, noting that over 30 nationalities joined the run in a show of unity. The overarching goal of the event is to raise awareness, advocate for a ceasefire, halt the ongoing conflict, and call for a truce to benefit the Palestinian people.
This marathon provided a platform for physical activity and a powerful expression of global compassion, emphasizing that people from different corners of the world can come together for a humanitarian cause.
