The ghetto President, alias Bobi Wine, alarmed the large number of Ugandan soldiers uninvitedly surrounding his residence. The incident happened on Friday evening after he allegedly reported that the ruling party had engaged in election malpractice. And as such, they were not the victors as the electoral commission had announced. Mr. Wine claimed that he would not accept the Presidential results as he was the leading candidate. He accused the electoral board of colluding with the incumbent President to rig the votes.

Police Intimidation

Since the onset of Presidential campaigns in Uganda, Robert Kyagulanyi, a prominent pop star, and a presidential candidate, has been an unending intimidation victim. Mr. Kyagulanyi has complained of constant harassment from the incumbent President. Stating that he has been ordering the state soldiers to sabotage his campaigns and mistreat his supporters who try to create trouble. Throughout the period, Mr. Wine has been having a tough time, though trying so hard not to quit.

President Museveni, 76 years of age, is still seeking a sixth term in the Ugandan government despite ruling for 35 years. The hostility between the two politicians, Museveni and Kyagulanyi, has degenerated into a monster as the two are the main rivals vying for the seat. I.e., despite the other eight presidential candidates.

Bobi Wine Alarmed by Military Presence

Presidential election results started streaming in as early as Thursday night after the voting process had ended. As of Friday, the electoral commission had counted 39% of the total votes, confirming Museveni`s lead with 62%, followed by Bobi Wine, who had 29%. Mr. Wine expressed his displeasure with the news and immediately alleged irregularities. Meanwhile, it was not long before soldiers stormed his residence, beat his security guards before surrounding his house.

“They jumped over my fence. Came inside my compound. Why are they here right now. I don’t know why they are here. But I imagine they are here to harm me. I feel threatened,” said the 38-year-old who described the invasion as unexpected.

Bobi Wine also reported that they cocked a gun at him and the journalists when he confronted the soldiers. Most of all, they refused to vacate his premise, declaring him a threat to national security. But these incidences happened in the absence of internet connection in Uganda. The situation with the internet has been awful since the eve of the elections.

Before the military invasion at his home, Bobi Wine declared his victory over an interview with some journalists. He also stated that he was confident he had defeated the dictator by far. Additionally, he called upon the Ugandans not to accept the blackmail and to dissociate from it. Mr. Wine was convinced his opponent had rigged the votes because his polling agents were beaten and sent away from northern and western Uganda.

Mr. Wine promised to release video incidents of election Irregularities to affirm the cases of opposition stuffing their ballot boxes etc.

Electoral Commission Condemns Bobi Wine

Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama condemned Bobi Wine for alleging irregularities. He also said that he did not appreciate that Mr. Wine insisted that the results they were reading were rigged.
