An older adult woman on Wednesday 13th May 2020 was discharged from Nigeria`s Eti-Osa Isolation Center. The patient, a 98-year-old, was receiving treatment for the deadly coronavirus. Lagos State government announced that the woman was the country’s oldest COVID 19 patient. The governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu additionally stated in a tweet he made that the 98-year-old had been discharged alongside 25 other patients. The 25 other persons had also previously tested positive for coronavirus in the Lagos State.

An Older Adult Woman Recovers

Two Consecutive Negative Readings
The patients, six from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 11 from Onikan, and nine from LUTH Isolation Centers, were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19 in two consecutive readings. In Nigeria, two negative results are required for a patient to be discharged even though the NCDC directed that even one negative result should lead to discharge.
The Lagos state governor concluded his tweet urging Lagos residents to play their roles by wearing face masks, following the public health guidelines, and observing physical distancing even as health workers continued to sacrifice and push through.
