Algeria is going to restore its embassy in Kyiv. The embassy of Algeria closed forcefully exactly a year ago. This was as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This was reported by Algerian state television on Sunday. It cited this statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.

“This decision comes within the parameters of safeguarding the Algerian state and the national community in this country,” MFA stated on Algerian state television.

The Algerian embassy in Kiev had to temporarily cease its operations. This was due to the worsening security situation in Ukraine. However, it will now be controlled by the Chargé d’Affaires.

As a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the embassy was shut down in March of last year.

The decision to reopen the embassy will take effect “immediately,” according to the statement.
