Tensions surge in Guinea amid the first round of Presidential elections as Guineans eagerly await to know the winner. A total of 12 candidates were contesting for the presidential seat. However, only two people are the main competitors. The incumbent President, Alpha Conde, who has ruled the country twice, is contesting against main opponent Diallo. The latter has grown fond of the civilians and earned many peoples’ trust. There is a possibility he might overthrow President Alpha Conde.
According to political analysts, Conde might win a third term and become the President of Guinea. Although during Conde’s reign over the past years, he has had differences with the civilians. The people held large-scale protests, demanding his resignation when he amended the old constitution in his favor. Guineans believe that Alpha Conde is a man with his best interests at heart. Despite being 82 years of age, he is still vying for the presidential seat. Diallo 68 considers Conde’s age as a contribution to his victory. He knows that people will prefer his younger age to Alpha’s.
