At the Stade de France in Paris on September 23, 2023, South Africa’s Springboks were defeated by Ireland in a match that was very close throughout. The reigning champions of the Rugby World Cup were defeated by the team with the highest overall ranking in the world by a score of 13-8.
The defeat was caused by errors in goal kicking as well as other areas of play. The Springboks now hold the second spot in the world rankings for rugby.
The Springboks have already suffered their first defeat of the 2023 competition, which is taking place in Pool A. On October 1, they had a meeting with Tonga at Marseille.

The Springboks won the Webb Ellis trophy in 1995, 2007, and 2019, and they share this accomplishment with the All Blacks of New Zealand. The Wallabies of Australia have two, while England’s team also has two.
The only two African countries to enter the competition are Namibia and South Africa. The championship match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 28.
