A Nigerian chef cooked for 100 hours straight, hoping to break the record for the longest cooking session ever.

Hilda Bassey, a chef from Lagos, has captivated the nation with her epic five-day cooking marathon, which began on Thursday and ended on Monday night.

While President Muhammadu Buhari and other politicians and celebrities congratulated Bassey, his fans camped outside an events center to watch him cook a variety of dishes, including jollof rice, pasta, and akara (made from bean flour).

Lata Tondon, an Indian chef, currently holds the record for the longest time spent in the kitchen, clocking in at 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019.

Bassey’s time must be verified by Guinness World Record officials before it can be officially recognized.
