Within the past day and a half, the authorities in Tunisia have located and recovered the bodies of fourteen migrants who had been missing off the coast of the country.

According to the reports of the local media, they were from countries located in sub-Saharan Africa and were attempting to reach the shores of Italy.

They did not specify whether all 14 migrants were traveling together on the same boat or whether they were split up into different groups.

According to figures provided by the United Nations, at least 12,000 migrants who arrived on the shores of Italy this year had originated from Tunisia.

As a result, Tunisia has become a primary route for people trying to reach Europe.

During the same period of time the previous year, that number was only 1,300.
